The Service Guide
The Service Guide provides “You,” the user (member) the opportunity to review and research local home service contractors online. The Service Guide provides detailed information on local contractors; ratings and reviews provided by other consumers that have previously hired their services; and discount opportunities to members through two different coupon programs. The Service Guide provides this information and these features with the intent of assisting “You” in any research process “You” may want to conduct prior to or after hiring a local home service contractor.
The Service Guide
The Service Guide provides listings of “pre-qualified” local home service contractors. As a Member, you have the opportunity to research and read information about all contractors listed with our service. The information includes detailed company information that has been provided by the individual companies; ratings and reviews that have been provided by other consumers that have previously hired services from listed contractors on The Service Guide. You also have the opportunity to provide your own Ratings and Reviews on contractors you have hired. Members have the ability to utilize two different coupon / savings programs. These coupons and savings programs are intended to assist Members in recouping their membership fee, as well as to save additional money where applicable on specific home improvements and repairs. As a Member, you have complete and unlimited access to all of the above information and benefits, as well as access to additional member benefits not outlined in this agreement.
Members agree that all information provided on The Service Guide’s New Member Registration Form is completed with integrity and honesty. Members agree that all information provided in order to register as a Member is true, accurate and complete. As a Member, you agree to update and maintain your information with accuracy, honesty, and integrity. You also acknowledge that you are twenty-one years of age or older.
Usage of Membership
Members have complete 24 / 7, unlimited access to the information on The Service Guide’s website. Members have access to all member benefits for the complete term of their membership duration. Memberships are not intended to be shared. They are transferable only to other members of the “member’s” household.
Security and Accountability of Your Account
When you register as a new member, you will create your own log in information that will include a User Name and a Password. The User Name will remain the same throughout your membership. Members can change their password, if they wish. Your log in information will only be used by you or members of your immediate household. By confirming your registration, you are agreeing to taking complete responsibility for the security of your account. Members agree to protect the confidentiality and security of your User Name and Password. Members agree to take full responsibility for all actions taken on your account that are associated with your User Name and Password.
All personal information provided by Members of The Service Guide are kept completely confidential, not shared or sold to outside parties, or used for internal solicitation purposes. All Reviews are posted anonymously. No Member names or cities are posted with their Reviews. See more….
Duplication Of Information
The Service Guide grants all Members permission to read and review any information you have access to as members of The Service Guide; including Company Profiles, Ratings and Reviews, and discounts and coupons that may be applicable to companies you consider. Members have limited license to access this information on our website, as well as in our E-Newsletters. You agree that this information is for your use only as it applies to making hiring decisions. You agree that you will not use this information or exploit it for any commercial, competitive, educational, or any other non-hiring related purposes; plus you agree not to copy, reproduce, duplicate, or sell any of this information without written permission from The Service Guide. In addition to Content, you acknowledge that other information on our website and E-Newsletters, including, but not limited to text, graphics, images, icons, logos, etc. collectively “Copyright Materials,” are the property of The Service Guide. These are not to be duplicated, reproduced, copied, sold to any third party without written consent or permission by The Service Guide.
Content Ownership / License
All content of The Service Guide is owned by The Service Guide. By submitting a Review for a company on The Service Guide, Members (and Non-Members) grant The Service Guide complete ownership of this information. The intent of the information by The Service Guide is to provide its availability to our members through our website, E-Newsletter, and company sales material, if applicable. Review and Rating information provided by consumers is intended to remain a part of The Service Guide; not shared, sold, or offered for any other purposes. Members agree that The Service Guide has the right to review, approve, reject, edit, modify, or adjust the text of a Review using our own discretion, where applicable. The Service Guide cannot guarantee the accuracy or appropriateness of any information content submitted to or through our service by contractors or consumers. Members agree that The Service Guide provides a service where this type of content is compiled to be shared with other members, and that The Service Guide acts as a passive conduit in the collection and distribution of content by consumers and responses by contractors. You agree that you take complete responsibility for any judgments or evaluations you make based on any content you read associated with The Service Guide. You waive all liability, implied or expressed, from The Service Guide for any risks you bear or damages you may incur based on any decisions you make from content you read as associated with The Service Guide. You waive the right to bring claim against The Service Guide for any damages relating to content or service provider content, and acknowledge your own responsibility for any hiring decisions you make.
The Service Guide will not publish any personal contact information related to any Member accounts on our website or any other publication. Your personal account information may be accessed in-house by employees or representatives of The Service Guide as a part of providing specific member services for a member. The Service Guide may, on occasion, provide particular, non-identifying aggregate member statistics or information for the purposes of providing demographic or other anonymous information to advertisers, service providers, or other third parties. You agree that The Service Guide may make such information available as is required. You agree, as a Member, that The Service Guide may access, preserve, or disclose your account information, any information provided by you to The Service Guide, including, but not limited to Reviews, if required to provide it by law or in good faith to comply with any legal proceedings; to comply with a court order or lawful third party subpoena; to enforce this Membership Agreement; to protect the property, personal safety, or rights of The Service Guide, its Members or the general public. As a condition of the ongoing growth of The Service Guide, Members understand and acknowledge that as a continued part of business, The Service Guide may sell or buy other companies or entities, or be acquired wholly or in part by a third party. In such transactions, customer information is generally considered as part of the transferred assets. You, hereby, consent to any transfer of your information as may be required in said scenario. Once transferred to a third party, the conditions and terms of usage may be subject to change.
The services provided by The Service Guide is subject to challenges and limitations, delays, down time, and other problems inherent in the use of the Internet as well as electronic communications. The Service Guide is not responsible for any delays, down time, times of unaccessibility, failures with our website, or other damages resulting from such problems.
Fees, Billing, Renewal
The Service Guide charges a Membership Fee to Members in exchange for providing specific services and benefits. The specific fee structures can be found on our website. You agree that The Service Guide reserves the right to adjust its fee structures, membership options and billing methods at any time. Members can access any changes or updates to this information on our website. Membership fees are paid in advance for your selected membership duration by check, cash, or credit card.
If you select either the six month or the one year membership option, The Service Guide will send you an electronic mail reminder of your upcoming membership expiration approximately 60 days prior to your expiration date. The reminder will serve as a notice that it is time for renewal of your membership. For those members who have paid by credit card, The Service Guide will automatically renew your membership for you, using the credit card number on file from your previous membership registration, if we do not receive any kind of cancellation notice from you. The renewal will be effective the day of your expiration, at the then current membership rate. If the renewal of your membership is not successful, our auto renewal procedure will make a second attempt to renew your membership not to exceed ninety days beyond your expiration date. If you would like to cancel or discontinue your membership to The Service Guide, your cancellation request must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. Central Time the day prior to your scheduled expiration date. If you decide to cancel your membership during the subsequent 90 day window, you will need to contact The Service Guide directly by phone (763-745-7490); email
; or by fax (763-745-1199). Please acknowledge that the reminders you will receive as part of our Renewal Process will provide a clear opt-out option for you, if you choose.
Reviews on local home service contractors are accepted by The Service Guide from consumers who have hired companies listed with our service. They are accepted by both Members and Non-Members to our service. To be able to submit Reviews and Ratings through our website, over the phone, or through the mail, you agree to the following:
- The contractor / service provider has completed / performed actual work for you
- You are not related to, work for, or work for a competitor of the contractor / service provider
- Your Reviews will be based on your own personal experiences, not someone else’s
- The information you provide will be provided with honesty and integrity
- The information you provide will be accurate and truthful
- Your name and actual Review will be made available as a part of our Review Validation Policy to the contractors / service providers you submit Reviews for
Preserving the integrity of the Review information we publish is critical in providing information to our members that can be trusted. Therefore, The Service Guide enforces a Zero-Tolerance policy for any Members, Vendors, or Non-members who are involved in submitting false Reviews for themselves or for other businesses listed with The Service Guide. Any Non-Member involved in this manner will not be allowed to establish membership with The Service Guide. Any Members involved in this manner will have their membership inactivated with no refunds. Any Vendors involved in this manner will have their contracts inactivated, as well as their information on our website with no refunds. Any Reviews that have been posted that are discovered to be false will immediately be removed from our website. The Service Guide reserves the right to temporarily remove, or delay posting any Reviews that may be in question by a Vendor or Consumer. This decision is solely up to the discretion of The Service Guide.
Expected Member Conduct
As a Member of The Service Guide, you represent and warrant that you:
- Are twenty-one years of age or older
- Have read, understand, and agree to abide by the terms and conditions of use in this agreement
- Will not be excessive, abusive, or otherwise irrelevant in submitting Content, repeatedly or of the same or similar Content imposing unreasonable or disproportionately large load on our infrastructure
- Will not take any action that would undermine our rating or review process
- Will not participate in submitting Reviews that could be construed or interpreted by The Service Guide as harassing, unlawful, threatening, abusive, in poor taste, hateful, harmful, profane, vulgar, obscene, defacing, slanderous, invasive of another’s privacy, racially, ethnically, prejudiced, or otherwise against another party
- Will not attempt to impersonate another person, attempt to take on another person’s identity or falsely submit contact information in an attempt to misrepresent yourself as another person
- Will not attempt to misrepresent your relationship with a contractor / service provider
- Will not attempt to submit reviews that are encrypted or infected with viruses, Trojan horses, worms, spiders, cancelbots, or other computer programming regimes with the intention of destroying or damaging, disrupting or disabling our website.
The term of this agreement is dependent on the membership option you choose. You may choose either a six month or a one year membership option. Your membership will be automatically renewed by The Service Guide, unless you contact us to cancel, until terminated by either party in accordance with this agreement. Members always have a clear opt-out choice when it comes time to renew your membership. Simply notify The Service Guide of your decision to cancel no later than 5:00 p.m. the day prior to your scheduled renewal.
Home Service Contractors
The Service Guide does not endorse any of the contractors /service providers listed with our service, nor can we guarantee or warranty any of their work or promises to work. You agree and acknowledge that any contractor – consumer relationships you establish with any business listed with our service is strictly between you and the contractor. The Service Guide is not considered as any kind of third party relationship. All contractors have been “pre-qualified” in order to be a part of The Service Guide. You acknowledge that you understand that this means all contractors have passed a specific set of quality criteria in order to be listed with The Service Guide. You acknowledge that you understand that although specific criteria were met at the time of each business’s initial registration with The Service Guide, that due to inherent changes in business, some of this information and criteria can change. The Service Guide is unable to guarantee accuracy of this information beyond the initial registration of each business with our service. We recommend verifying with companies you are considering hiring that these criteria are still in check. You also acknowledge that ratings and reviews, or responses to reviews collected by The Service Guide do not reflect any direct views or opinions of The Service Guide, any of its officers, agents, directors or employees.
Modifications To Service
The Service Guide reserves the right to modify, adjust, update, or limit the services made available to you with or without notice. You accept that The Service Guide will not be liable in any way to you or any third party for any changes, limitations, modifications we deem necessary to make to our services. You accept that The Service Guide has the right to establish and revise general practice policies as they relate to the collection, archiving, and posting of Ratings and Reviews. These decisions are up to the discretion of The Service Guide. You agree that The Service Guide has the right to alter these polices as deemed necessary at any time with or without notice.
Members understand that the primary way The Service Guide will communicate with its members is through email. A secondary way may be through regular mail, by phone, or by postings on our website. Communication to The Service Guide from its members are welcome through any mode of communication that works best for its members. Email, regular mail, phone, fax are all open lines of communication between The Service Guide and its members.
This Member Agreement and the relationship established between You and The Service Guide will be governed by the laws of the state of Minnesota, United States of America. You accept that any claim or cause of action related to your usage of our Service or of this Agreement shall be filed within one (1) year after said claim or cause of action occurred, regardless of any existing statutes or laws to the contrary, or will be barred forever.
Value of Service
Your complete satisfaction is our first priority. Although we are unable to provide refunds for any membership fees, it is important to us that you receive value from our services and that your membership with us is positive. Members of our Service must agree to abide and be bound by all the terms and conditions of this Membership Agreement. If you do not agree with or support any part of this Agreement, you should not use this Service. By logging into the Service, you are confirming your agreement and acceptance of these terms and conditions and agree that you will abide by and be bound to them.
