Carpet Cleaning Service –
How To Get Your Money’s Worth
Almost anytime of the year can make sense for many homeowners to get their carpets cleaned. If you will be having yours cleaned this season, The Better Business Bureau suggests that you give careful thought to who you will have doing the job. If you will be hiring a professional carpet cleaning service, you will want to be sure some homework has been done on the companies you are considering. With so many choices and advertised prices that run the gamut, you want to be sure you are getting your money’s worth. The BBB offers the following tips to help your search go more smoothly.
To find a reputable company, always ask people you trust; friends, family, neighbors, co-workers who have had this service before who they might recommend
Contact the BBB for a reliability report on the company
Price does matter! The lowest price is not always the best price. While no one wants to be overcharged, extremely low prices should also set off warning signals. Companies that advertise very low prices may be practicing “bait” advertising. Once their workers arrive in your home, they quickly suggest a more expensive treatment for the cleaning. Ask exactly what is included in their price and be sure to get it in writing before the crew begins any work.
Find out what you get for your money. Just as pricing can differ from company to company, so can the services included in the price, as well as what the company considers “extras.” Feel free to ask questions like, What type of cleaning agents does the company use and exactly how does it work? Will the cleaning company move furniture and return it to its original places? Is this moving included or extra? What about pre-treating spots and heavily soiled or high traffic areas? Extra or Included? What are their customer satisfaction policies?
Ask about who will actually be doing the work in your home. You have a right to inquire. It is your home, after all. Will they be actual employees or do they sub-contract the work out? Are they bonded and insured? Just because they say they are, does not necessarily mean they are. Who is responsible if the crew damages the carpet, your furniture, or other items in your home? If they are NOT insured properly, taking care of any damages would be YOUR responsibility, which would not be a nice surprise to have to encounter after the fact.
Ask about timeframe. How long will the job take? How long will your carpets need to dry? What kind of ventilation is needed? Will there be any care requirements you will need to be aware of after the cleaning? Can you get a written guarantee?
