Living With Computers...

                                                                                 Computers…
You Can’t Live With Them Or Without Them!

In today’s world, working without a computer has almost become obsolete. They lend many tools and efficiencies that more than pay for themselves in time saved and money earned. They can be as scary, though, as they are helpful. Most people put far too much faith in their computers to store and save their precious business information. If you have ever had your computer crash and lost information, you will do everything possible to never repeat that experience again. If you have been blessed enough to have not experienced that worst business nightmare, learn from others what you can actively do to prepare yourself for that dreaded day, if it does happen to you.

Here are some serious suggestions that every business owner should consider:

1.       Invest in an external back up system to your computer and BACK UP your information on your own
pre-determined regular basis. And, don’t just say you will do this, actually DO IT!

2.       Research local professional computer experts that you can feel comfortable calling in a pinch.
These people have the expertise and knowledge to help you set up your computer, your back up
systems, as well as your other peripheral computer equipment to work as effectively and efficiently
as they can. They can also rescue you from computer disasters, should they happen to you. Be
ready for this, in advance. When you are experiencing computer troubles or catastrophes, your own
adrenaline levels rise high enough to make you potentially less effective in searching out the right
solutions, let alone professionals to help you.

3.       Many business people still follow the practice of keeping a back up hard copy of really important
documents and papers. We advocate for this very strongly. It is much easier to replicate
something you can simply copy off of, versus having to start from scratch, should you experience
the unfortunate crisis of losing data.

4.       Try not to be a pack rat when it comes to saving data. Keep what you need and delete what you
          do not.
Your computer will run much mor efficiently minus unnecessary information and data
          taking up needed space.

5.       Seems obvious, but be sure to dust your computer and keep your screen  clean. There are special
solutions to use for your monitors that won’t scratch or smudge them.

6.       RUN VIRUS SCANS. You can set up your computer to do this for you automatically on a pre-set
          schedule.  DO THIS!  Very important!!!!!
